37. Ethical banking - a commercial banking business model to change depositor behaviour
The traditional theory of the banking firm explicitly talks about 'delegated monitoring' as a model defining characteristic of commercial banking. The presumed behaviour of the depositor in the model is value- and impact neutral. And this is exactly how the average depositor behaves. Values based commercial banking aims at changing depositor behaviour with the objective of channeling intermediated investments into impact financing.
Gabor graduated at the Budapest University of Economics as MSc in Finance and Banking and also holds a Doctorate degree in Finance. He has been in commercial banking, corporate finance- and financial institutions advisory since 1991. Among other things he served as Partner in KPMG Central- and Eastern Europe Financial Institutions Advisory Services. In 2003 Gabor joined CIB Bank, a BancaIntesa subsidiary in Budapest as Managing Director. He joined MagNet Bank in Hungary in 2012 and served the Bank’s value-based strategy as Deputy CEO, Member of the Board and as minority stakeholder. He is also the liaison partner between MagNet and the Global Alliance of Banking on Values. Gabor is currently helping Doble Impacto, a Latin American crowd lending platform and the Fundacion de Dinero y Consciencia in Chile to become a fully licensed commercial bank and as such, the first TBL impact financial institution in Latin America.

About me
Wieteke joined Euclid Network as International Program & Research Manager in 2019. She focuses on strengthening our membership engagement and leads several programs and events, a.o. the Euclid Network Impact Summit (25-26, March 2020 in The Hague), European Social Enterprise Monitor and Social Enterprise Lab.
She has 15+ years of finance, (program) management and research experience across government, academia, international organisations, private sector and as entrepreneur.
Before joining EN Wieteke worked a.o. at the United Nations, Thomson Reuters and as CEO and Executive Director at two global educational non-profit alliances, where today she is a Board Member.
Wieteke has two Masters in Business Administration: a Masters in Strategic Management from RSM Erasmus University and a Master in International Management from CEMS, ESADE and RSM Erasmus University.
After living and working around the world she has returned to The Netherlands and currently lives with her family in Rotterdam.
