15. Fighting the Digital Divide: Upskilling for Vulnerable Populations

To create full inclusion for the workforce of tomorrow, we must address the present digital divide. By some estimates, 44% of adults in the EU are ill-equipped in digital skills, with low-income and minority communities disproportionately affected. In the face of an increasingly digitized employment landscape, this presents the need for upskilling within these vulnerable populations. Upskilling needs range from basic computer literacy to proficient use of work-related software (such as Microsoft Suite) to programming ability, and Konexio’s programs highlight these essential skills in a curriculum intended to give trainees the boost they need to overcome the digital divide and fill high-needs labor gaps.
