During this session we will discuss how the humanitarian and the venture philanthropy sector can work together and leverage their respective strengths towards an increasing effective and efficient positive impact in their shared ambitions.
Participants will tap into their experience and knowledge to explore how to strategically deploy their financial, human and intellectual resources in a humanitarian setting.
We will do this based on a real-life case-study; the “Restoring Paradise” project in Haiti, a project that aims at increasing community resilience through landscape restoration, disaster risk reduction and other climate change adaptation interventions. The session will be hosted by The Netherlands Red Cross.
Context
The number of people facing humanitarian crises is rising, and the international humanitarian system cannot keep up: twice as much people are affected, more often and for longer than 10 years ago.
