charitable pledges started to re-appear, mostly as equity pledges in the US. there are now alternatives being build with a combination of equity, revenue and time pledges. those enable to align the interest of all stakeholders in a specific cause and get them to work together on a common long term agenda.

Dr Ritchie Head, is a co-founder and director at Ceratium, a UK and Dutch based consultancy specialising in developing collaborative project strategies, sourcing funding, creating and delivering high quality communication and exploitation approaches to deliver Impact, and managing research projects. In the last decade Ritchie has helped raise over €60M of grant funding for a diverse range of projects, primarily through EC Framework programmes. He has worked on European research projects as a scientist, manager and coordinator for over 20 years.
In his role as project manager for VISION-DMD Ritchie is helping promote venture philanthropy and develop an investor tool kit. This EC funded Horizon 2020 project is delivering late stage clinical trials for a new steroid-like drug for the rare disease Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. Venture philanthropy investment from international investors including eleven patient groups has been critical to help de-risk and advance this clinical programme.
